Sartharion Must Die

Lemming Legion vs A Big Dragon..
http://gallery.me.com/theory128/100192

I made it!

I made it!

I am 80, woohoo.

Big thanks to all who have helped me get there, gold for flying lessons, new shiny kit and levelling help!

Dan was very understanding too, he has been a wow widow for the last 2 weeks and he had to deal with my stressed out fit when the storm giant quest wrong for the 5th time (I still haven't done it). But he did remind me that Assassin Creed 2 will be out in the new year so it looks like I will become an assassins widow then……….:0)

But was it worth it…….Hell yes!

I have been told that now I am 80, I can start playing the game for real. Which is kind of reassuring as all who have played with me will realize I am pretty clueless most of the time.

So I enjoyed my first weekend of 80th level shenanigans, did many dungeons died may times (sorry guys, but at least the healers are getting in good practice) but the highlights was playing Frogger with green slime balls, farting poison gas that Grobulous had injected me with. Oculous was also an experience, phase, time freeze, fly away from the pink ball things which explode….repeat. But vent coordination got us through it….:0)

So bring on the dungeons, the gold for questing (to pay off my debts) and give me another year and I might know what I am doing!

Raid on Lemmings!

DK DPS and YOU!

Hi folks! As we are getting a fresh pair of DK dps machines I figured it might be useful to put what I've picked up on my travels into a little post on this here blog thingummajig. So with no further ado:

How to be a DPS DK (or more diseases please we like it dirty!)

Before we get onto spec choices lets get some basics out of the way first:

ATTACK FROM BEHIND!!!

Bosses in Naxx are gonna be bigger and uglier than anything you've come across on your travels and they will be able to kill you in one swing. If you attack them from the front you give them a chance to parry your attacks which means they'll stop you hitting them and will promptly smack you in the face. Death will ensue, tanks will giggle, healers will point and laugh and those wimpy ranged dps will look at you down their noses. Don't be that guy (or girl) stand behind the boss.

  • Hit Rating: As bosses in Naxx are level 83 it means that they are harder to hit than mobs the same level as you. 8% harder to hit in fact. This means that in order to hit a boss every time you swing for it you will need enough rating to improve your chance to hit by 8%. This is a magic number that is calculated through the use of chicken sacrifices and dancing in underpants. To save you the trouble (chicken blood gets everywherelet me tell you!) I can tell you that the magic number is... 263! This will do you for now on hit rating. There are further considerations but for now just worry about getting reasonably close to that number. This is probably the first thing you want to look at as even if you hit like a truck, if you miss, the boss is just gonna laugh at you :o(
  • Expertise: After getting "hit capped" the next thing to stop bosses sneakily avoiding our damage is to try and stop them dodging our meaty hitting stick. Bosses get a 6.5% chance to dodge your blows so you will need 214 Expertise Rating (or 26 Expertise as it's shown on your character pane) to avoid them dodging you. I wouldn't worry too much about this one for Naxx as you are likely to have a fairly limited amount of access to gear in the time remaining that would let you balance stats and things to get expertise capped. Hell Infester aint even close and he puts out kick-ass dps :o)
  • Primary stat: For DPS DK's Strength is the be all and end all of stats. It is the sugar coating on our cream pie of delicious awesomeness. Stack it to the hills boys and girls. Learn to love your bulging muscles! I could give lots of good reasons why STR is better than AP or Crit but you would get bored so just accept it. Strength Rocks!
  • Runeforging: The only rune that you will want to use for DPS right now is the Rune of the Fallen Crusader. It grants more strength and we all know how obsessed we are with that right?

Specs:

What spec you play is totally up to you. I know from experience that some specs just play nicer than others. I for example absolutely love playing Unholy. Nothing better than being a lean mean disease spreading machine! Having said that here is an example spec for each tree that I have blatently stolen from ElitistJerks.com. Have a look onthe site if you want but remember this...They plunge the depths of geekiness so that we don't have to! Millions of pages of excel spreadsheets were sacrificed to the god of numbers in order to bring you these ridiculously over tweaked specs.

A few notes beforehand to help you decipher the geek speak:

The Rotation section on each spec is a recommended order of using your various abilities. I realise this is gettingto the point where we are basically telling you how to play your character. Please don't feel you have to do exactly what is written here. This is just a guide and if you can get close (or even just pick up some ideas) when you're playing you'll be fine. I know from my experiments that hidden under what are pretty simple orderings are very clever methods of making best use of every talent point that you have picked up. Still the main point is take the ideas here and go play with them to see what works for you.

Abbreviations:

  • IT = Icy Touch
  • PS = Plague Strike
  • HS = Heart Strike
  • DS = Death Strike
  • SS = Scourge Strike
  • DC = Death Coil.

Blood:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMVh0Icfkf0stZfzhhxc:IpGMmV

Glyphs:

  • Dancing Rune Weapon
  • Death Strike
  • Dark Death

Rotation:

  • IT-PS-HS-HS-DS-DC
  • DS-HS-HS-HS-HS-DC

Frost:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jZG0exAbczf0cuzAofM0hxM

Glyphs:

  • Frost Strike
  • Obliterate
  • Icy Touch

Frost seems to play more with a priority systems than a rotation so the idea here is to do the action that is highest on this list if it is available:

  1. Killing Machine -> Rime
  2. Killing Machine -> Frost Strike
  3. Keep Frost Fever up
  4. Keep Blood Plague up
  5. Obliterate
  6. Blood Srike
  7. Frost Strike
  8. Rime
  9. Horn of Winter

Unholy (My personal favourite! No bias here honest;o):

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#jfVMMZZfM0Ixcdg0ux0uIqo:LsbMmV

Glyphs:

  • Dark Death
  • Icy Touch
  • the Ghoul

Rotation:

  • PS-IT–BS–BS–SS–DC–HoW
  • SS–DC–SS–SS–DC

Minor Glyphs are the same for all specs:

  • Horn of Winter
  • Pestilence
  • Raise Dead

I think that's more than enough to get you going for now. Take a look at the specs (they may not be too different to what you already have) and see what you think. I look forward to getting hit in the face so that you can be as awesome as you can be.

Have fun!

Cool Magic items

some of the things we can spend the Titansteel we have been saving on for our DPS Deathknights and Tankadin are:

Spiked Titanstell Treads 4 Saronite, 3 Titansteel and a Frozen Orb (the Tanking ones cost the same)
Spiked Titansteel Helm 4 Saronite, 4 Titansteel and a Frozen Orb
Titansteel Destroyer 8 Saronite, 8 Titansteel and 2 Frozen Orb (a good alternative is greatsword of the Sin dorei for 25 Champion Seals)

Titansteel shield wall 4 Sar, 3 Titansteel and 1 frozen Orb

What other things might be good for these guys?

Titanium impact Choker and Ring (I can make one every 4 days using my JC tokens to buy Dragon's eye gems)

Other Quick ways to make the best of our Gear include
Eternal Belt Buckles (an extra gem sockets, Miurian and Weallsaynie can make them) (you can get epic gems for Honour and our three Jewelcrafters can cut them into great stat bonuses
Enchantments - Yaritz and Infester can both help with this
Leg Armour patches (from letherworkers (Jindobo)) and Embroidery from our Tailors (Yaritz, Weallsaynie and Tarmin)
Shoulder enchants from the sons of Hodir (now bind to account)
Head enchants (PVP ones are relatively cheap and don't need any rep (You can get soem from the wintergrasp vendor as well), melee dps ones from Ebon Blade, Caster ones from Kirin Tor and Tanking ones from Argent Crusade)

Naxx week!

We have just 6 days to go untill the lemming legion's first fully on
level raid attempt.

I for one am very excited.

Here are some things that I think we should look at this week;

More cool magic items!
Both crafted and from heroic dungeons, toc and the new ice crown 5 mans.

Speaking of which it would be cool to get everyone through them and to
defeat the final one with Muirian, Yaritz, 'yomper and Sil'.

Between our miners we have a stash of Titansteel and we have several
people who can benifit from it. Tarmin is assembling a DPS set and
Evilron will probably need some bits for when she hits 80. Kevlarr may
also need some of the Tanking gear for his fresh 80 Tankadin.

Raid Team!
Our two tanks are going to be Miurian and Kevlarr. Silvaris and I will
be healing, and on DPS we will have Yaritz, 'Yomper, Annalise, Evilron
and Tarmin. We should gain Katyperry for the Sunday section of the
attempt.

Meaning that we might only have 9 for the Saturday attempt.

Welcome

Welcome to the Lemming Legion Blog, currently under construction.

In the mean time here is this weeks news letter reprinted as a cop out first blog post:

Hello and welcome to the slightly late Lemming Legion News letter.

Firstly; I hit 80! 4 manning Utgarde Pinnacle with Niightfall,Megayompa and Infester.
I also had great fun running UK more or less on level with Farran in the company of some other guildies. We also got another 80, Weallsayni reached the end game last ngiht!

My 2nd and 3rd Screen shot are from k8 and come with the following message:

Twas the night before 80 and all through the Gloom not a creature was stirring: there just wasn't room!

The harpies were hanging in numbers so great, we feared that the walls would collapse from the weight
The undead, like cattle, were packed off to bed, we took a quick count, there were 300 head,

not to mention the Deathknights, Those hundreds of dozens of reanimated corpses and crawling black geists

Then outside the Shadow Vault there arose such a din! I wanted to look, but the Baron told us "Stay In!"

With questing and rep runs and cursing out loud in 45 minutes I'd squeezed through the crowd.
Outside on the mountain I could see a fresh snow had covered the unliving dormant down below

When up in the sky what a strange site I saw: but an overweight Vrykul dragged by Mighty CHillmaw

He swore and he shrieked and flailed with his sword but his attending Vrykul women just sighed and looked bored

And THEN like an earth quake I heard from the roof the pounding and stomping of each Valkyrs' hoof!
Before I could holler a warning of DOOM the whole aggregation fell into the room!
Under a mountain of masonry and snow and undead and death knights and me and Terrano

We also have a guest post from Ron, detailing what she has discovered in Wow this week:

I think finally what everyone has been telling and in some cases yelling at me is finally sinking in.

READ THE QUEST!

This week alone I have been killing things I should have been spraying,

Jumping off of a ghost ship which I should have stayed on. But I got an amusing run around the islands while Andy killed the guys on board.

Killing level 72 elites as level 72 elites (surviving I must add) instead of throwing some stuff on them to weaken them first.

Killing the guys in a quarry running to the next. I probably got through the whole lot before I realised I hadn’t got one thing for my quest……so I read it. I was meant to be bashing there heads in with a hammer…..

The eagle caused me problem too but I won’t go into that.

Anyway in the future I will read the quest!

Promise

So we are now in our last few days before we run at Naxx and gearing and levelling up is in full swing, but Christmas is here so this week's theme is Winterveil memories or rhymes, like K8's above, make a christmas song or Poem with a Wow theme! best submission from the guild wins a Loot Card!

For the Horde! More Blog posts to follow.
